Broadway Bucket List

I love the theatre, I have since I was a little kid performing in church Christmas pageants. Unfortunately being in Indiana we tend to have to rely on touring shows to come through town to see any of the big-name shows. I've been fortunate enough to have seen several fantastic shows including CATS, Phantom of the Opera and Spamalot. However I still have a list of shows I desperately want to see (and whether it's here in Indy or I'm lucky enough to travel to NYC or some other location, I will check these off my list!)

  1. Amazing how lucky I am that everything seems to come to Cincy. I highly recommend Wicked - I've seen it twice. The only ones on your list I've missed are Grease and LOVE.

  2. Yes you are, there's this website called Broadway Across America that shows where the touring groups are headed to major cities each year. Right now Indy only has Fiddler on the Roof and Les Miserables scheduled to come here. Mary Poppins is coming to Louisville in March and Wicked is coming to Louisville in September which is two hours away, I may have to try and convince the hubby to take a road trip at least for one of them.

  3. We hope to see LOVE this year. We went to the Grammy Museum over the weekend and saw the LOVE exhibit and it just put me over the edge to try and see it this year. *fingers crossed*

  4. Oh fun! My mom and I tried to see it when we were in Las Vegas a few years ago but it was sold out. We got on the stand-by list to see if there were any no-shows but no luck (although we did see Mickey Dolenz from the Monkeys while in line! And the gift shop is open to the public, I have a cell from the Beatles cartoon show on my wall that Chauncey and my mom bought as a graduation present for me!)

  5. Oh how cool about seeing Mickey Dolenz! I hope you guys can make it out West to see it. I haven't seen any theater other than Shakespeare in the park so I think your bucket list is mine too. I just hate how expensive it is. lol

  6. It is expensive, although at least with the traveling Broadway shows the tickets are cheaper than they would be if we went to NYC (I bet it's more expensive for you in LA as well). Mickey was cool, we actually saw a sign at one of the shopping areas at one of the casinos that he was going to be in town signing autographs at this sports memorabilia place so we knew he was in town. So when we saw him in line at the Mirage for LOVE my mom leaned over and said "We'll be seeing you tomorrow". He was really nice.

  7. Aww that's cool to know! I'm glad he wasn't mean or jaded by his celebrity status.
