Attention followers: changes are coming!

So you may or may not know, but Google Reader is going away....tomorrow....So if you used this to follow me:

Then you need to consider one of these other options....

-Bloglovin: Think of it as YouTube for blogs. It's free to sign up and then you can go here to add all of the blogs you are following with Google Reader.

-Follow me on Twitter as I always tweet any new posts.

-Follow me on Pintrest, more specifically my board for Styles And Smarts.

Thankfully with these options the transition from using Google Reader to something else should be easy enough. All I ask is that if you are a follower, please try and stay in touch. I have lots of ideas and some BIG plans that I'll hopefully be implementing in the next few weeks.

Thursday Treasures: Cross body Bags

Summer is busy with going to picnics, yard sales, farmer's markets, amusement parks...and while I'm out I don't want to be weighed down with a big purse. I need my hands free but want easy access to my things, so a cross body bag does the trick. There are so many bags out there, my biggest tip is take into consideration what you absolutely must carry with you. The bigger the bag, the more you'll feel compelled to fill it (I know I do). Stick to the essentials and you'll be ready to go explore. Pick a dressier design and it can take you from a day hitting antique shops to dinner on a pier.

Looking for fellow Hoosier bloggers!

Greetings! I am teaming up with Brooke over at Wide Open Spaces and putting a call out for fellow Indiana based bloggers. We're looking for bloggers who are interested in networking and connecting with other bloggers in Indiana. You can be from anywhere in the state, although if you are in the Indianapolis and surrounding areas that would be great for getting together in person (unless you don't mind traveling).

This idea is still in its beginning stages, so right now we're just wanting to see who is out there. Please comment below or email me: stylesandsmarts (at) gmail (dot) com

Thanks!

Thursday's Treasures: Gladiator Sandals $100 and under!

I love wearing sandals during summer, I hate when my feet are confined, they want to be free! I also can't stand wearing flip flops, so in the summer I throw on a pair of gladiator style sandals. They go with everything from jean shorts to a flowy maxi dress. Here are some I've found that I'd love to add to my shoe collection, and they are all $100 or less!

That time I almost got ran over by Lebron James

So with the NBA Finals in full swing (and Lebron James trying to win his second title with Miami) I thought I'd share this quick story about my own stint in the NBA. Back in the spring semester of 2008 I got an internship with the Indiana Pacers in the broadcasting department.

The hubby (boyfriend at the time) and I at a Pacer game

The internship was really cool. I got to learn how they do the TV broadcasts for games, the in-house stuff like the "fan cams", and got to participate in things like promotional shoots. But I digress, one evening the Pacers were playing the Cleveland Cavaliers, which meant that The King: Lebron James was in the house. That particular evening I was assigned to shadow one of the in-house camera guys and we started the evening on the game floor. A bunch of the players were out on the court warming up, stretching with the trainers and other exercises. I was standing next to the camera guy while he figured out where he wanted us to be when they did the national anthem and player introductions. Lebron was nearby warming up, and let me tell you, Lebron is HUGE! He's 6' 8", 250 lbs and all muscle. His biceps are the size of my head.

Anyways, I was standing there and Lebron starts doing these shuttle moves, going back and forth across the floor sideways.

Obviously not Lebron

Since he was going sideways and was facing forward he didn't see how close he was getting to anyone around him. So at one point he was shuffling so far over that he almost ran into me and the camera guy. Thankfully I was paying attention and moved out of the way before he ran us over. I don't think he even realized how close he got, he was in the zone. Eventually the game started and we all did our job and at the end of the day I learned more about the NBA, including that if a 250 pound forward is headed your way....move!

Spring break in WDW: Part 5

Tuesday, March 19th

Our last day at WDW found me back at the Studios. I grabbed FP for Toy Story Mania and then hit some more more characters.

Phineas and Ferb are awesome, but I really wish they had Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Perry available

Ka-Chow!

Dad-gum!

I love the Muppets!

And of course a visit to the Studios wouldn't be complete without seeing the Citizens

After the Citizens were done for the day, I went over to EPCOT to grab a bite to eat and played a couple of rounds of the Agent P World Showcase Adventure. The weather started to look a bit sketchy so I went back to our room to pack. Chauncey eventually finished the conference and did his packing. The next day, we took a taxi back to the airport and went home.
