Our 3rd Anniversary at WDW: Part 2

Thursday, December 6th, 2012

Today was an exciting day as it was the day that New Fantasyland officially opened to the public. We managed to get to the park at rope drop and wandered around (New Fantasyland wasn't open to the public yet, only to the press) until the ceremony began in front of the castle.

Construction of the 7 Dwarves Mine Train, due to open in early 2014

The area directly in front of the castle was only available to the press, but they had a large screen set up near the center of the hub by the Partners Statue so everyone else could see what was happening.

We wandered through New Fantasyland but didn't try to go on any of the attractions, it was packed! They had media setups every few feet which blocked some of the pathway, so we saw what we could and promised to return later.

Love the references to Walt's Carolwood Pacific Railroad

We saw the Great Goofini (and Donaldo too but out picture didn't come out)

The Be Our Guest restaurant wasn't open for business but they have some of it open for people to look at. The main ballroom was being used to media to conduct interviews.

Watch our video at the end and you'll find out why these suits of armor aren't exactly what they seem...

We spent the rest of the day in the Magic Kingdom riding our favorites and hanging out with a few friends. We ate dinner back at Pop Century.

Traditional turkey dinner, the turkey was good and so was the mashed potatoes (they are lumpy if you aren't a fan of lumpy potatoes) and the corn bread, the green beans were a bit rubbery (probably overcooked)

    1. It is, although it was smaller than I thought it would be, but the 7 Dwarves Mine Train attraction is still under construction and is right in the middle of it all so once it's done and the walls are gone it was look bigger and more open.
