Good Eatin': Be Our Guest at the Magic Kingdom (lunch)

Dining Review: Be Our Guest Restaurant Lunch

I’ve been lucky enough to eat our Be Our Guest for lunch twice since New Fantasyland officially opened last December. While eating at the Magic Kingdom’s newest restaurant for dinner is the hottest ticket (word is that it is booked solid through Labor Day) going for lunch when it is a quick service restaurant is a great option.

Both times I’ve been to Be Our Guest the line has gone from the door all the way to the end of the bridge. If the line is that long, or even longer, don’t let this discourage you. Each time the cast members gave us an estimated wait time of 30-45 minutes; in reality we only waited about 15-20 minutes.  The cast members inside are very good about getting people through the ordering process so the line moves fairly quickly.

Once inside you’ll be sent to one of two types of kiosks (somewhat dependent on how you are paying for your meal). One is a touch screen where you choose what you want to eat and then pay by swiping your card (credit card, Disney gift card or your Key To The World card if you are charging to your room or using the Disney Dining Plan). The other kiosks are manned by cast members who will take your order and payment (required if you are paying cash).

Once you order you’ll receive an “enchanted rose” that you will take with you to your table. The ordering room exits into the main dining room, designed to look like the ballroom. On one side of the ballroom is another room known as the “Rose Room” or “Music Box” room because of the large music box with Belle and the Beast dancing atop it to music from the film. The other side of the ballroom leads to the mysterious West Wing, which is much darker except for the enchanted rose sitting under a glass dome in one corner of the room.

The prince’s portrait in the West Wing. The portrait is enchanted see keep an eye on it while eating.

With lunch you can sit anywhere you like in any of the rooms, take note that the West Wing is the smallest room and is quite popular so finding an empty table there could be difficult if it is busy. The magic in the enchanted rose will allow the waiters to find you once your food is ready, just make sure you set the rose on your table and keep your receipt handy. There are soda fountains in each room so you can get your drinks without having to walk to a completely different room or wait for the waiter to bring it to you. We didn’t have to wait very long for our food either, we usually were barely sat down with our drinks and silverware before our food arrived.

The lunch menu does vary from the dinner menu but the food is still wonderful, it is not your typical theme park fare.

Braised Pork (Coq Au Vin style) - eight-hour slow-cooked pork with mushrooms, onions, carrots and bacon served with mashed potatoes and green beens jardiniere

Strawberry Cream Cheese Cupcake - vanilla sponge cake, strawberry mousse filling, and cream cheese icing

Because the menu is more sophisticated than other restaurants in the Magic Kingdom it is a bit more expensive (for my husband and I with two entrees, two deserts and sharing one drink it ran us about $30-$35 dollars total) but in my opinion well worth the cost. The food is very filling and we were hungry again for several hours even with all the walking we did. I can see why Be Our Guest is so popular and hope that we can eventually try it for dinner.

  1. This looks SO cool. I really love how themed out and 'fancy' it is. The food sounds (and looks) amazing too!

    1. It is! Other than Cinderella's Table inside the castle, it's one of 'fanciest' restaurants inside the WDW parks, and very popular. They're resorted to utilizing Fast Pass for the lunch hours due to the long lines once it opens (dinner uses ADRs and is always booked). I'd love to eventually eat there for dinner because the menu is different.
