WDW December Trip Pt.3 Bieber Fever Hits the Magic Kingdom
Saturday, December 3rd, 2011
Saturday we were in the Magic Kingdom, unfortunately they were filming part of the Disney Christmas Parade and the star of the day was Justin Bieber. So as you can imagine there were a LOT of people in the park, especially teenage girls. Thankfully they were mostly on Main Street and at the hub near the castle.
The main reason we were in the MK in the first place is that for our anniversary I gave Chauncey and I a private tour with author and fellow Disney fan Lou Mongello. We met Lou at the main entrance of the MK and we spent the entire morning/afternoon getting an in-depth look at the stories and hidden treasures of the park. We learned so much and look forward to when Lou offers tours of the other parks as well. As we were winding down our tour we ended back near the hub where we saw the filming of a segment with Zendaya and Bella Thorne from the Disney show Shake It Up.
They were also filming a piece with Kermit the Frog, however we weren't allowed to take any pictures because Kermit was in his "raw form" with the puppeteer in plain view. It was weird and cool at the same time to see Kermit that way and we look forward to watching the parade on tv on Christmas Day and know that we were there for part of it. After bidding farewell to Lou we made our way to EPCOT for dinner.
On the way out we saw parade host Mario Lopez
We hopped on the monorail to EPCOT and wandered over to World Showcase. We had a while before dinner so we grabbed some drinks, a margarita for myself from Mexico and a beer for Chauncey from Germany.
We made it to the UK pavilion and caught the World Showcase players in their rendition of the Christmas Carol. They are hilarious and I highly recommend seeing them. (You can watch the full performance here)
We then staked out a spot to watch the British Revolution, the rock band in the UK pavilion.
We then went to our ADR at Les Chefs de France, I was a bit hesitant about eating there because I was worried that French food would be too out of my comfort zone but I was pleasantly surprised. It turned out to be one of the best meals we had the entire trip.
I had the roasted chicken with potatoes
Chauncey has the shrimp and scallops
After dining we wandered over to Norway to ride Maelstrom and meet up with a group of our friends from RADP for Illuminations.
After Illuminations we went back to our room and hit the hay.
